Are glass balustrades safe for stairs and balconies?+
A glass balustrade is a fall-protection element, so we specify toughened safety glass to a safe height with clamps, channels or standoff fixings rated for the structure and use. We confirm the glass rating and fixing at site measurement rather than promising a one-size spec — safety detailing is matched to the opening.
How much do balustrades cost?+
They are quoted per project, because price depends on the glass type and thickness, framed versus frameless, panel sizes, hardware, edgework and site access. We give an indicative figure after seeing your sizes and photos, confirmed after site measurement — indicative only. SST, if applicable, is shown on the quotation. Frameless or framed shower screen — which is better?+
Frameless looks cleanest and is easiest to wipe down, but uses thicker glass and more hardware, so it costs more. A slim aluminium frame is more budget-friendly and still reads clean, and can suit an out-of-true wall better. We recommend based on your bathroom, budget and how the wall and floor are set out.
Is tempered glass unbreakable?+
No — tempered (toughened) glass is impact-resistant and, if it does break, granulates into blunt pieces instead of shards, which is why it is used for showers and balustrades. It is not unbreakable, so we specify the right thickness, rating and fixing for the use rather than making a zero-risk claim.

The black creeping in from an edge is corrosion of the thin silver film behind the glass, where a cut edge exposes it and Sarawak's humidity keeps it wet. We prevent it at the bench and at the wall: a copper-free mirror with shop-polished edges sealed before installation, neutral-cure silicone in vertical strips with a ventilated back, the bottom edge kept clear of the basin, and a bathroom extractor that runs after the shower. The backing specification is confirmed on your quotation.
