Glass is specified for where it lives — wet, high-traffic or fall-protection — not sold as one spec for every job. These are the choices that decide safety, longevity and look.
Tempered (toughened) safety glass
Impact-resistant; if it breaks it granulates into blunt pieces. The standard for showers and balustrades.
Laminated glass
A bonded interlayer for security and storm performance — it holds together if broken.
Framed vs. frameless
Frameless uses thicker glass and more hardware (cleaner, costs more); a slim aluminium frame is budget-friendly and suits out-of-true walls.

Low-iron / clear glass

No absolute claims: tempered glass is impact-resistant, not unbreakable — it is specified to the right thickness, rating and fixing for the use. A balustrade is a fall-protection element, so its rating, height and fixing are confirmed to suit the structure, never a one-size promise.

Frameless or framed shower screen — which is better?
Frameless looks cleanest and is easiest to wipe down, but uses thicker glass and more hardware, so it costs more. A slim aluminium frame is more budget-friendly and still reads clean, and can suit an out-of-true wall better. We recommend based on your bathroom, budget and how the wall and floor are set out.
Is tempered glass unbreakable?
No — tempered (toughened) glass is impact-resistant and, if it does break, granulates into blunt pieces instead of shards, which is why it is used for showers and balustrades. It is not unbreakable, so we specify the right thickness, rating and fixing for the use rather than making a zero-risk claim.
