A casement is hinged and opens outward, so when it's closed the whole sash is compressed against a continuous gasket — that all-round seal resists driving rain better than a sliding window, where the sashes pass each other on a track. For exposed, rain-facing openings in Sarawak we usually recommend casement for that reason, and we still set the drainage weep-holes and gaskets correctly so any water that does reach the frame exits the way it should. We specify multi-point locks on ground-floor and accessible openings and can pair them with tempered or laminated glass where security or safety matters; the exact spec is confirmed per opening in your quotation. On upkeep, aluminium is corrosion-resistant and weather-rated, so it copes well with Sibu's heat and rain — but it is not maintenance-free.
