Brush and wipe the bottom track so grit doesn't reach the rollers, keep the drainage weep-holes clear so rain exits the track, and lubricate the rollers and lock as needed. Aluminium sliding windows in Sibu, Sarawak — the window that works on almost every wall
A sliding window is the default for most Sarawak homes for a simple reason: it opens without projecting in or out. Where a casement sash would swing into a grille, a curtain, a walkway or a neighbour's wall, a slider just moves sideways on its track — which is why it ends up on bedroom, living-room and kitchen walls all over the house. ALUMAX supplies and installs aluminium (also spelled aluminum) sliding windows across Sibu and the wider Sarawak, made to measure for each opening and drawn for your approval before fabrication.
The decisions that matter are the frame series, the track and the glass. The standard XF70 system suits most sheltered and moderately exposed openings; XF123 adds a deeper profile with an integrated insect screen; and the W01 heavy-duty system — deeper frame, stronger interlock, premium rollers and compression sealing — is what we point at master bedrooms, large spans and elevations that take wind-driven rain. Every sill track drains, and we set the weep-holes so water exits rather than backing up. Glass runs from clear to tinted and Low-E for west-sun heat, tempered as standard, and laminated where security or a stormy elevation calls for it; ground-floor openings get a multipoint lock.

Sliding or casement — which is better for driving rain?
A casement seals tighter, because its sash compresses against a continuous gasket; a slider's sashes pass each other on a track. On a sheltered or moderately exposed wall a well-drained slider is fine and far more practical; on an exposed, rain-facing wall we either recommend casement or step the slider up to the W01 heavy-duty system with its stronger interlock and compression sealing. We check the exposure of every opening at site measurement and say which one we'd use.
Can a sliding window have an insect screen?
Yes. A removable mesh panel can be added to the standard XF70 system, and the XF123 series has the insect screen integrated into the frame — the homepage's most-requested window is exactly that unit. Either way the screen sits in its own track so you can slide the glass open for airflow and keep the mosquitoes out.
Will the track leak or get stuck?
Not if it's detailed and kept clean. Every sliding sill has drainage weep-holes that let rain exit the track, and we set them correctly for the exposure; the everyday upkeep is brushing grit out of the track so the rollers keep running true. We don't claim any window is waterproof — but a properly drained, clean track and the right frame series for the exposure keep water and stiffness managed for years.
